5 of the Fastest Internet Providers in the U.K.

Fastest Internet Provider in the U.K.

Whether you use the internet at work or in your home, there is nothing worse than a slow internet connection. Life has become so fast-paced, and it seems to only get faster, so we expect our internet searches, social media browsing and any internet-based work to keep up with the pace. This is why we are going to talk about the fastest internet provider in the U.K., as well as their internet deals with fast broadband.

In a home with multiple people, it is a benefit to have fast and cheap internet, and it can also be extremely useful if you are a keen gamer, do a lot of video calls, have Zoom or Skype meetings, watch YouTube videos or enjoy streaming movies and series on platforms like Netflix. If you are someone who doesn’t make use of these applications and simply wants to send the odd email or make use of a communication app like WhatsApp or iMessage, then you probably won’t need especially fast internet. In the workplace, however, fast internet is imperative, as time is money. It cannot be wasted waiting for items to download or having video meetings interrupted by poor speed.

Many internet providers have come on board with new fast unlimited deals, and with fiber being rolled out in many areas, it is changing lives. Unfortunately, these deals are still only available mainly in towns and cities, and the more rural areas are still at the mercy of a slower asymmetric digital subscriber line (ADSL) with download speeds of 10 megabits per second or less.

There are many internet providers to choose from, so we have selected the top five providers that offer internet deals with fast broadband in the U.K. Depending on where you live, one of these providers may have just the right deal for you.

Top 5 Fast Internet Providers

1. Virgin Media

As with everything Virgin, Virgin Media is known to be one the best internet providers for fast internet, and they offer a Gig1 Fibre Broadband deal at £60 per month for an 18-month contract. One of the cons is that Virgin Media is not one of the cheapest internet providers, although they do offer fast internet speeds. There is a £35 set up fee, so if they support you in the area where you live this may a good provider to consider.

2. Community Fibre

Community Fibre boasts as London’s fastest network with speeds reaching up to 3,000 megabits per second since they build, operate and own their own dedicated full fiber optic network. In 2021, Community Fibre won three ISPA awards, one of them for being the Best Ultrafast ISP in the U.K. Their 1,000 Mbps Broadband package is £35 per month on a 24-month contract with free setup, no line rental fee and unlimited data.

3. Hyperoptic

Hyperoptic definitely comes in with the best fast and cheap internet deals, starting as low as £17.99 for a 50-megabit line on a 24-month contract. Their Hyperfast 1-gigabyte deal on a 24-month contract will only cost you £35 per month. There are four deals to choose from and they all offer unlimited data and free installation and use of a router. On their first two, cheaper deals, there is a £29 activation fee but for the larger packages, activation is absolutely free of charge.

4. Vodafone

Vodafone has been a household name for many years, and they have also won the Uswitch Fastest Broadband Provider award. They offer three different broadband deals, depending on what your needs are. Their cheapest deal is the Vodafone Broadband option from £22 per month and the most expensive package is the Vodafone Pro Extra from £38 per month. This package includes the Apple TV 4K with a three-month Apple TV subscription, as well as anytime landline and mobile calls. All three packages offer the same internet speeds and unlimited data usage.

5. Plusnet

Plusnet is also on the top five list with three wins in 2022 in the Best Broadband Awards. All their fiber packages now come with a new Hub Two router that provides stronger Wi-Fi connections and better speed. With three packages to choose from, the Unlimited Broadband package is only £18.99 per month with a 10-megabit line and the Unlimited Fibre Extra package is £24.99 per month for a 66-megabit average download speed line. All their contracts are for 18 months and line rental as well as activation fees are included in the monthly fees.
